The incident occurred at approximately 5:16 a.m. local time on August 3, 2026, near Nyaung Hnit Pin village — roughly 8,500 meters southeast of Hmawbi town — according to Xinhua, citing military-owned Myawaddy TV.

The sequence was swift and catastrophic. A bird entered the engine compartment of a Tatmadaw (Air) training combat aircraft during a low-altitude sortie. The ingestion triggered an engine fire. The aircraft was lost.
