About FODNews

Airport runway at golden hour

From Runways to Orbit

The world’s leading independent source for Foreign Object Debris news, incidents, and analysis.

Our Mission

FODNews is the world’s leading independent news source covering Foreign Object Debris (FOD) — the debris, wildlife, and foreign materials that damage aircraft, disable jet engines, threaten satellites, disrupt operations, and — increasingly — unmanned aircraft incursions that shut down airports across aviation, military, space, motorsport, and industrial sectors.

“As the threat of debris expands beyond runways into low Earth orbit, so does our coverage — from runways to orbit.”

Founded in 2000, FODNews has spent more than 25 years reporting on FOD incidents, investigations, prevention technologies, and safety standards. What began as an aviation-focused resource has grown into a comprehensive news platform covering debris threats wherever they occur — on tarmac, in factories, on racetracks, and in the vacuum of space.

What We Cover

Editorial Standards

FODNews follows AP-style journalism standards. Every incident report is sourced from official records — NTSB, FAA, AAIB, EASA, and equivalent international authorities — or verified news outlets. We credit original reporters by name and link back to primary sources.

We do not publish unverified claims, speculation, or clickbait. Our editorial process incorporates modern research tools alongside experienced human editorial judgment on every published article.

A Public Service

FODNews is provided as a public service by The FOD Control Corporation (TFCC), the aviation industry’s most comprehensive provider of FOD prevention information and equipment. Based in Dallas, Texas, TFCC has been dedicated to FOD awareness and prevention since 1983.

While FODNews is funded by TFCC, our editorial coverage is independent. We report on the full FOD landscape — including competitors’ products and industry developments — because better information means safer operations for everyone.
